Couple Costumes

Every year our neighborhood rents out the community center and throws a huge adult costume party the weekend before Halloween.  Since the holiday falls on Sunday this year, it worked out perfectly to have it Saturday night.  We’ve been going to it for a few years now and it’s always a lot of fun!

This year my husband and I decided to go as a pilot and flight attendant.  The twist is that I’ll be the pilot and he’ll be the flight attendant!  Since it is an adult only costume party the costumes can be a little sexy, a little raunchy and a lot of adult humor with the funnier costumes!  For my costume I went with the Mile High Captain costume.  It’s sexy and fun!  My husband is going to squeeze himself (I might have to get him some Spanx Shapewear) into the Flight Attendant costume.  I got him a pair of white knee-high boots that should top the outfit off perfectly.  Whether or not he’ll be able to walk in them is another question!

There are so many couple costumes to pick from.  If you’re thinking about going to a costume party with your significant other or maybe even a friend, here are some great ideas for you!

  1. Toy Story – Woody and Buzz Lightyear
  2. Sesame Street – Bert and Ernie
  3. The Simpsons – Homer and Marge
  4. The Spartan Cheerleaders from SNL - Craig and Ariana
  5. Popeye and Olive Oyl
  6. Barbie and Ken
  7. The Lone Ranger and Tonto
  8. Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf

Have fun this Halloween with your friends!  Group and couples costumes make Halloween even more fun!

Top GunThe movie Top Gun was released on to the big screen back in May of 1986 and is still one of my favorite movies to this day. Who can forget the hot bodies of fighter pilots Maverick, Goose, Iceman and Slider during that volleyball scene on the beach!

On top of all the action and adventure the movie was a love story between Tom Cruise (Maverick) and Kelly McGillis, who played the civilian flight instructor, Charlie.  The movie makes you laugh and cry and of course, it has a happy ending.

Maverick and Charlie would make a great couple costume for Halloween!  Any guy would look hot in the Top Gun Jumpsuit and you wouldn’t be a couple without the sexy flight dress for your significant other!

Super Mario Bros.Who hasn’t heard of Super Mario?  Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last 25 years, everyone knows Mario!  He’s Nintendo’s most recognizable mascot, has sold over 240 million video games and holds seven world records!

This week according to Nintendo themselves, the game that put Mario on the map turns 25! Released on September 13, 1985, Super Mario Bros. quickly became the top-selling video game of all time, a title it would hold right up until last year when it was passed by Wii Sports.

This anniversary couldn’t have come at a better time of year!  With Halloween being only a month away, what better way to celebrate this silver anniversary than to wear a Super Mario Adult Costume!

If you’re one of those adults that just doesn’t want to grow up, then Halloween is the perfect holiday for you!  Since Halloween is a time for kids to be kids and adults to be kids, you might as well enjoy it.

Dressing up for Halloween isn’t just for kids anymore.  Every year more and more adults are buying costumes and heading out to Halloween parties, costume parties, bars and clubs and even trick-or-treating with their children.  By the way, younger kids love when their parents dress up for Halloween.  So if you’re planning on walking around the neighborhood with your kids or even if you’re staying at home base to give out candy, put on a costume – your children will love it!

Green Army Man Deluxe Adult CostumeSince the movie Toy Story 3 has come out, it’s once again brought attention to all the great toys we played with as kids.  I think I actually enjoyed the movie more than my daughter because I could relate to Mr and Mrs Potato Head, the bucket of soldiers and the slinky dog because they were toys I played with as a kid.

Those animated characters make for the perfect costumes for adults that want to take one day out of the year (Halloween) to not grow up!  How much fun would it be to go as a toy you and your friends played with as children?

You could be one of the green army men or put on a Mr. Potato Head costume for all your friends to see.  Your friends would love it.  You’d be the talk of the party!

Animal House

Anyone who has seen the movie Animal House, remembers Bluto,(played by John Belushi) and the infamous frat house Toga party!  That movie was released back in 1978 and still today the “Toga Party” is as popular as ever.  A little fyi – the line, “Toga! Toga!” was chosen #82 on the American Film Institutes list of America’s 100 Greastest Movie Quotes of All Time.

One reason Toga parties are so popular is that besides the fact that they are so much fun, the costumes you need to wear are really cheap and easy to make!  A simple white sheet is all you need.  To top off your toga look don’t forget your headpiece or your roman sandals.  What you wear under your toga is completely up to you!

So next time you’re thinking of throwing a big bash – think TOGA!

Halloween is the only holiday where it is perfectly fine for adults to act like children again; in fact it’s encouraged. It’s such a fun filled, no pressure holiday that both kids and adults get to dress up and have a blast!

The fairytales that we read to our children have wonderful characters that beg to come alive on Halloween. You see many children dressed as their favorite princess or pirate every year for the holiday. However, did you know that storybook character costumes are just as popular with adults as well?  Adults especially love a happy ending, so becoming Snow White, Cinderella or Prince Charming for the day is the perfect way to spend Halloween.

There’s also the other end of the spectrum when it comes to fairytale characters.  Everyone loves the sweet innocent princesses, but what about the evil villains such as; the Wicked Witch, Captain Hook, the Big Bad Wolf or the evil Queen.  Those characters are just as much fun to play!

Leatherface Adult CostumeSlasher films have been around for decades and although every year a new one makes it to the big screen it’s always the old horror flicks that many people still recognize.

Scary movies that have a really well recognized (by people of every age) main character are:

  • Halloween – Michael Myers – Since the first movie was released in 1978 there have been nine sequels in the franchise.
  • Friday the 13th – Jason Voorhees – Since the first movie was released in 1980 there have been 11 sequels in the franchise.
  • Chainsaw Massacre – Leatherface – Since the first movie was released in 1974 there have been five sequels in the franchise.
  • Nightmare on Elm Street - Freddy Krueger – Since the first movie was released in 1984 there have been eight sequels in the franchise.
  •

Characters such as Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface and Freddy Krueger are some of the most sought after masks and costumes for Halloween.  If you put on a white hockey mask everyone knows who you are dressed up as.  The same goes with a leather mask and chainsaw or the gloved hand with fingers made of blades.  Each of these characters have some sort of ”disguise” that is easily recognized by any fan of horror movies.

Cowboy and Indian Adult Costumes

As little kids we all played cowboys and Indians at some point in our lives.  Summer days were filled with running around the neighborhood with some of us wearing cowboy hats and plastic holster sets tied around our waists, while others wore ribbon headbands with feathers and a bow and arrow set across our chests.   We would run around for hours and never get tired.  Tents put up in the backyard served as Teepee’s for the Indians and the swing set fort was home to the cowboys.

Now that I’m older and with a lot less energy, I’ll simply stick to “dressing up” as a cowboy or Indian on Halloween!  It’s just as much fun because the adult costumes are so much better.  A sexy cowgirl costume with fringed chaps is always a big hit with the cowboys on the range.  And for you cowboys out there, don’t forget your Big Tex holster set; no cowboy is complete without his big guns!

Russell Crowe in Robin Hood

For his 21st century Robin Hood, director Ridley Scott may have gotten rid of the notorious green tights and feathered cap, but the rugged good looks and sexiness is still there played by none other than the gorgeous Russell Crowe.  Ridley Scott also directed Russell in the movie, Gladiator which is why he wanted Robin Hood portrayed as a “sharp-witted, tough-minded badass who knows how to handle his weaponry”.  Wow, that sounds a lot like Russell’s character, Maximus in Gladiator!

I’ve always loved movies like this, so I’m looking forward to seeing it on the big screen.  It’s being released tomorrow, so I don’t have long to wait!

I thought Kevin Costner was great in “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” back in 1991, but I’m thinking Russell Crowe may just have an edge over him on the whole Robin Hood image.  I’ve seen Gladiator 100 times, so this is one movie I’m not going to miss!

I have a feeling that Robin Hood costumes are going to be pretty hot this year!  From little boys to men, Robin Hood is going to be the new superhero of Halloween costumes!

Queen of Hearts Adult CostumeThe amazing story of Alice in Wonderland has once again come into the spotlight with Tim Burton’s wonderfully gifted version of the fairytale.  Add actors such as; Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Mia Wasikowska and Anne Hathaway and the finished storyline is something everyone of every age should see!

You might automatically think that being a fairytale, Alice in Wonderland is geared more toward children, but Tim Burton’s take will have adults racing for the theaters.  I’ve seen it and many of my friends have and everyone has walked away saying what a wonderful movie it is.  The characters are outrageously perfect and it’s more of a story than a fairytale.

This is the reason you are seeing more and more adults throwing crazy Alice In Wonderland party’s!  All the characters are so much fun to play who can resist dressing up as the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat or most importantly Alice herself.  You can send out Wonderland themed invitations and host the party in an outside garden location with multi-colored lights and over-sized chairs.

Don’t delay, get your friends together and throw an Alice In Wonderland party! You won’t want to be late for this very important date!
