It’s spring, which means we are right in the middle of the most popular time of year for weddings.  And with weddings comes bridal showers and bachelorette parties for all you brides-to-be out there!

About a month ago I received an invitation to my girlfriends bridal shower.  After printing up her gift registry I headed out to a big name department store to buy her gift; hours later I was still looking.  I know the items of a bride and grooms gift registry are important, but they are also boring household gifts such as toasters, sheets and waffle irons.  I wanted to get her something she normally wouldn’t buy herself.  That’s when the idea of a sexy adult costume for her honeymoon hit me!

What a brilliant idea, if I don’t say so myself!  It would be a gift that she would never buy herself, but one that her and her soon-to-be husband would never forget!  Every man I know would rather see his wife in a sultry seductive costume than making dinner with their new skillet set…unless she was wearing that sultry seductive costume while cooking that dinner!

Since my girlfriend is a little on the how should I say, not bashful side, I decided a costume depicting someone in control would be right up her alley.  And what better costume for her to take control in on those hot romantic honeymoon nights than as a sexy and flirtatious sheriff; complete with baton and handcuffs. 

When she opened my present at her shower, she just about died!  She loved it and thought it was the best gift ever!  She also knew her fiance would love it as well.  I’m pretty sure every girl there will be buying a sexy costume next time their invited to a bridal or bachelorette shower!

Over the last few years Halloween has become a huge holiday for adults.  More and more adults are getting into the act of dressing up, whether it be to walk your kids around the neighborhood, attend a costume party or go clubbing with your friends.  Adult costume sales have increased ten fold in recent years.

This year my son’s school stepped back in time for their annual Prom with a theme of the “Roaring 20′s“.  What a great idea!  There is so much that can be done as far as decorations and costumes for that very important time in our history.  It was the decade of the model T, the $5 work day, the movie and prohibition.  It was the age of Jazz and Ragtime and everyone danced.

The dress code was simple, guys wore zoot suits and fedoras portraying the favorite style of the gangster while the girls took on the role of the ever popular flappers; with their short stylish dresses, long boas and plenty of fringe.  The girls wore sequined head pieces with feathers and short bob-cut wigs.  They all looked adorable!

The prom was held in an old warehouse that the guys turned into an old dance club.  Since the 20′s was considered the age of jazz they danced the Charleston, the Fox-Trot and the Shimmy.  Even the chaperones got into the act dancing to beat the band.  I’m not sure what they’re going to use as a theme next year to beat this!

March and April bring plenty of wild and crazy party’s during college spring breaks.  The students have been restless with the winter months of tests and homework and spring break brings the perfect opportunity to let loose and forget about school for a while.
